Epson Expands Its Lineup of In-Vehicle High-Speed USB Controller LSIs
– TOKYO, Japan, September 20, 2006 –
The newly developed S2R72C05 model takes advantage of the excellent functions and low power consumption of the previously developed S1R72V05 model which is already in mass production. In addition, the S2R72C05 enables isochronous transfer which is used when connecting to portable media players. The main target application for this product is HDD-installed car navigation systems. Consequently, it features a guaranteed operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C and meets the specifications for the AEC-Q100 industry standard for automobile electronics quality.

Information on USB Controller LSI products developed by the Epson Semiconductor Operations Division
The USB controller LSI products developed by the Epson Semiconductor Operations Division have achieved an excellent reputation worldwide due to their use of Epson’s core semiconductor technologies including low power consumption and high-speed data transmission functions. With the S1R72V05 in particular, Epson succeeded in making it possible to connect to computers and download high-volume files such as map data at super high speeds, and tap into USB memory to transmit music data at high speeds. In terms of standby power consumption, this model consumes only 0.072 mW of power during Sleep Mode. Due to its low power consumption and other features, the S1R72V05 has contributed greatly to the development of car navigation devices for which noise reduction is an extremely important factor.
The newly released S2R72C05 model has inherited all the excellent features of the S1R72V05, and also facilitates simple installation of the USB function into automobile electronics equipment such as car navigation systems.
Because USB 2.0 high-speed controller products represent such a key segment for the company, Epson will continue to expand its lineup of these products.
